Folktales - Day 1

Today we are going to begin studying folktales.  A folktale is a story or legend passed down from generation to generation, usually through oral retelling.  Today you are going to watch a video of a folktale being told out loud.  The folktale is called Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears.  It is an African folktale that tells about how our actions can have an effect on others.

As you are listening, think about how we can define a folktale.  What makes a folktale different from other kinds of stories?

 DURING:  Listen carefully to the story.  Think about what makes a folktale different from other kinds of stories.

    Folktales are different from real stories because folktales have faces on suns in a lot of folktales, and the narrator talks in the story lots more. the narrator also says what the sounds sound like. Also the narrator uses his same voice for a lot of characters in the story.

    Folktales are different than stories because some of the stories are real and some are not and some folktales are not real and some are real and in fairy tales the mane things in it is people not animals and folktales mane people in it is animals not people there different mane people some of them have people for the mane people that is why they are different they have different mane people in there store and folktales.

    why mosquitoes buzz in people's Ears.I think that this story does not make any since to me because the drawing and the wards don't make since to me.

    folktales are different because folktales are not real.
    book are stores that are real and can happen in real life.
